Today was to be our big spring landscaping kick-off: lawn mowing, trimming, flower planting, mulching, etc. However, mother nature had another plan. Starting at 7am and continuing for at least the last two and a half hours, we have experienced a full blown summer thunderstorm. No yard work today. At least, we all got to snuggle in bed when the kids got scared by the thunder.

We had this same storm on Friday night. Boy, what a storm! Thunder and lightning and 2 1/2 inches of rain that evening! Nana and Papaw are in San Antonio because Aunt Billie Sue is dying. Dad and I went over to their house Saturday morning to make sure they didn’t have any flooding and the swimming pool was filled to the brim. We had to drain some water out. At least they didn’t get water in the den like they often do when it rains like that.
Yep, we had a ton of rain here as well! We had to be out driving in it also!! Along our route, we hit 2-3 different places where the road was completly covered with feet of rushing water…. too much for even my Jeep!
rock on with the family time! now the weeds will continue to grow. . .and the kids will continue to grow like weeds, so what’s another week before the work gets done, right? better savor those cool boys while they can still jump on the bed without breaking it. yeah! 🙂 wishing you more rainy days. . .and a couple of really nice sunny ones to get all that spring cleaning done in!
The rains here in Mexico City are usually pretty wonderful–hard and cleaning, and over within an hour. But there’s rarely any thunder (population and pollution may be extreme, but weather conditions rarely are). So I was reminded of an evening last summer when Patricio and I were in Raton and a fantastic, put-the-fear-of-God-in-your-heart thunderstorm let loose over the town. Patricio was in the t.v. room and i was in the living room, reading. One of the loudest thunderclaps I’ve ever heard smashed out, so I jumped up and hopped toward the t.v. room. The funniest thing was that, halfway there, hopping towards me was Patricio. We felt like your boys’ age, and it was wonderful. I loved this post–for its nostalgia-inducement and for a glimpse into a wonderful, unexpected day in your lives.
Nothing blog worthy been happening in the last few months?
